Joint Spring Workshop 2012
CANCELLED
The JSW for 2012 has been cancelled by the organizing committee.
"Strategic Communications: Technology, Generations, and Cultures"
Are you a Gen X supervisor overseeing a baby boomer subordinate, or vice versa? Have you noticed that your subordinate does not seem to share your work ethic, and you are trying to find what will motivate that individual? Does your organization have traditional office hours with limited (if any) telework options, and you find this a barrier to productivity? Are you of the generation of texting, facebook and twitter that enjoys a flash party? You threw one to get a project done, and your baby boomer peers didn’t show up nor appreciate this innovative approach to project management? Do you struggle with miscommunication due to cultural differences in the workplace?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, or if you are a supervisor with diverse or intergenerational subordinates, or a subordinate trying to effectively communicate with your boss, then this one day workshop is for you. This workshop will present a variety of different communication challenges (either generational, intercultural or technological), and will look at methods to strategically navigate them to get your message across. It will also help you hear and understand the communications and motivations of others more effectively.
