Intellectual Freedom 101

Julius Jefferson, current DCLA President and President of the Freedom to Read Foundation, will go over the history behind “Banned Book Week.” He will also highlight the Freedom to Read Foundation, a non-profit legal and educational organization affiliated with the American Library Association, and ALA’s Intellectual Freedom Committee.

In addition to the brief lecture, a "Read Out" will follow where attendees will have the opportunity to read from their favorite banned books and controversial materials.
